Sonya Dyer

A collaboration with the artist Sonya Dyer, commissioned by The Box Plymouth. The creature is a hybrid creation of critically endangered sea species  envisioned by the artist to become a ‘Creature of Obsolete Parts’. The work was produced with the intention of resembling a preserved museum specimen, with a plan for its long-term conservation as such. To achieve this, we fabricated a bespoke tank, with walnut joinery for the base and top caps, while the creature itself was sculpted from Epoxy Resins. We delivered a conservation document along with the work to assist the artist and curator with the work’s conceptual aims.
